Gary Maksymetz

President, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods

Gary Maksymetz is President of Maple Leaf Consumer Foods, an independent business unit of Maple Leaf Foods Inc.
Mr. Maksymetz has more than three decades experience in the food industry and was appointed to his current position in 2010. The Maple Leaf Consumer Foods organization is the market leader in value-added meats and meals supported by flagship consumer brands – Maple Leaf and Schneiders – and a family of strong sub-brands, including Prime Naturally and Simply Savour.
Following graduation, Gary began his career in the food industry as a Product Manager with Canada Packers in Edmonton in 1979 and over more than two decades, gained valuable experience in sales, marketing, supply chain and general management. He held positions of progressive responsibility with Canada Packers, Swift/Gainers, Burns Foods and in 1996, returned to familiar territory at Maple Leaf Foods upon the company’s acquisition of Burns Foods. In 1997, he was appointed Vice President, General Manager with responsibility for managing the Consumer Foods’ U.S. operations, and assumed the role of Senior Vice President of Retail Sales for Canada and the U.S.A. in 2000. Mr. Maksymetz was appointed as Executive Vice President in 2002 a role which was expanded following the merger with Schneider Foods in 2004 and included responsibility for all retail sales, foodservice, marketing and U.S.A. for the combined business operations. He assumed responsibility as Executive Vice President for the organization’s Fresh Pork operations in 2006 prior to being appointed as Executive Vice President, Fresh Meats (Pork and Poultry) in 2008, a position he held until assuming his current role as President, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods.
He holds a B.Sc. in Food Science from the University of Manitoba.
