Maryanne Chantler

Senior Vice President, Six Sigma, Maple Leaf Foods Inc.

Maryanne Chantler is Senior Vice President, Six Sigma for Maple Leaf Foods. Her responsibilities include executive leadership and deployment of Six Sigma across Maple Leaf Foods. Maple Leaf Six Sigma continuously improves business performance utilizing methods and tools for problem solving, change management and project management. Maple Leaf has more than 100 full time Six Sigma Black Belts and over 800 certified Green Belts. Ms. Chantler was appointed to this role in 2011.

Ms. Chantler joined Maple Leaf Foods in 1996 as Director of Purchasing for the protein business, and in 2000 assumed the role of Assistant to the President where she worked for CEO, Michael McCain. In 2001, she was appointed to the role of Vice President, Six Sigma, Maple Leaf Consumer Foods where she successfully led the start up and deployment of Six Sigma across Maple Leaf’s largest Business Unit. This experience positioned her well to take on the role of Vice President, Merger for the Schneider Foods acquisition in 2003, where she was responsible for leading the post merger integration and Merger Program Office. In 2005, Ms. Chantler was appointed to the position of Vice President, Purchasing and Supply Chain for Maple Leaf Foods, where she was responsible for leading purchasing, supply chain and commodity risk management across all Business Units and Functions and a member of the Executive Council. In 2008, Ms. Chantler led the execution of the Maple Leaf Foods recall related to the sliced meats listeria outbreak. In 2009, she assumed her most recent position as Senior Vice President & General Manager for Fresh Bakery, Ontario, where she was responsible for sales and profitability for the Ontario region.

Prior to joining Maple Leaf, Ms. Chantler was with Ernst & Young Management Consulting where she worked with clients across various industries on reengineering their business processes and implementing best practices. Previously, she was with Procter & Gamble where she held a variety of positions in the areas of finance, sales, purchasing and product supply and gained significant global experience.

She holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from McMaster University.
